【About Special Olympics Macau】
Special Olympics Macau is the local branch of the International Special Olympics. It began in 1983, organized by a group of volunteers dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. In the early years, these volunteers assisted special education schools in running sports-related groups and activities.
By 1987, it was formally established and registered as a non-profit organization. Since then, it has continuously promoted the healthy physical and mental development of people with intellectual disabilities through sports training and competitions. In recent years, it has also focused on advancing services for SEN (Special Educational Needs) students, helping them build positive life attitudes. At the same time, it is committed to promoting the message and social movement of “inclusion and equality“.
